Seminary For a Day

Introducing Seminary for a Day

A day-long program offering seminary-level education for those interested in progressive theological and spiritual development. Through a series of workshops, fellowship, and spiritual practices, we are offering the opportunity to explore and connect with like-minded individuals in community. Come learn about and contemplate the issues that matter most to our faith today.

Our faith was built for times like these.

Key notes

  • Seminary-level education for those who feel the call but lack the time for a full program.
  • Combination of worship, spiritual practices, workshops, and fellowship exploring progressive theological values.
  • Discussion of how our diverse and powerful traditions can meet the challenges of our time.

Rev. Dr. Sofia

UU Theology and Communal Care

“Community itself is one of Unitarian Universalism’s greatest strengths. While we often talk about how we are to be with one another as a freely chosen faith, we do not always dig into the wisdom we have inherited through UU theological teachings on community, justice, covenant, and religious freedom. Join us for a conversation on where we ground our commitments to communal care in challenging times. “

Rev. Amanda

Worship

Rev. Amanda will lead worship and the benediction as our in-house spiritual leader.

Rev. Rob

Exploring Theologies of Reproductive Justice

“In 2015, the UUA became one of the first faith groups to officially adopt the reproductive justice (RJ) framework. This deeply intersectional approach invites UUs to connect our rich–yet often siloed–traditions of working for economic justice, LGBT equality, racial justice, reproductive rights, sexual justice, and more. It also requires us to reflect critically on identities, power, accountability, and solidarity. This session will explore how we can learn and grow through theologies of reproductive justice. “

Rev. CTC

Covenant: Keeping Love at the Center

This workshop will explore the role that Covenant plays in our UU faith.

Rev. Nancy

My Theology is not About Me

“I often write about modern Unitarian Universalism’s high theological anthropology. With this comes an often-problematic assumption that people are already basically good and as such, more in need of affirmation than of transformation in our congregational contexts. In this talk, I’d like to explore those challenges, such that even those of us who do not affirm an overly theistic vertical dimension in our theology can assert a robust call for transformation, atonement, reconciliation and restoration in our faith tradition. If indeed love is at the center, can we relate to sources of love and accountability quite beyond our own individual selves? “
