Winter Solstice Service

“Here Comes the Sun!”
The longest night of the year is on the horizon. “Solstice” in Latin means “the sun standing still.” Join the UUCA House Band, Rev. CTC & Rev. Amanda at 7pm in the Reeb Center – for an evening dedicated to recognizing the seasons’ turning and the light’s return. All Ages are welcome! Cider and cookies provided.
Teeny, Tiny Christmas
Dec. 24, 2024, at 2pm
Rev James Reeb Center, UUCA
Merry merry…but miniature! All are welcome at our Teeny Tiny Christmas service on Christmas Eve at 2:00pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, VA. Perfect for the youngest Christmas Eve attendees (and their families), this 25 minute service will introduce some special Christmas traditions and songs, with plenty of room for giggles and wiggles. Favorite dolls and stuffed animals are welcome to join the celebration, as we all learn together that Christmas is a time to share joy with those we love!
Christmas Eve Services
Dec. 24, 2024, at 4pm, 6pm, & 8pm
Welcome, welcome, and merry, merry! We welcome all to attend our family-oriented Christmas Eve services. The 4:00 and 6:00 services will be identical, and the 6:00 service is livestreamed! With carols, stories, candle-lighting, and more during this one-hour service, we hope to ring in the joy of the season with you and yours. Let us gather in community. Cookies and cider will be offered after services.
At 8:00, join the UUCA worship team to embrace A Loving Christmas. Using words, music, and song together we will kindle the flames of peace, hope and love. All are welcome but suggested for adults and families with older children. Our tradition of singing Silent Night and passing the light from one to another, will close this service.

Below are a few of our most-loved recent services.
Part One of Three:
“Want Friends?”
Most Sundays, on the drive home, Rev. Amanda sees a sign outside a big church that says “Want friends? Wednesday at 7pm.” No other words are on the sign—just a picture of donuts. Who doesn’t want friends? And, maybe, donuts? But making friends can feel challenging, even in a community like UUCA. Join Rev. Amanda to explore the challenges and joys of building friendship throughout life.
“War”
Despite its inevitable pain, loss, and suffering – human beings continue to engage in armed combat. Must we continue to accept the atrocities of war? How do we “support the troops” and oppose the war? Is there a Unitarian Universalist approach to war? Is our hope for lasting, meaningful PEACE unrealistic? A questioning sermon.
“MLK Service”
UUCA Ministers Rev. Amanda Poppei and Rev. Carol Thomas Cissel join their voices in a special service, urging us to consider both the reality and the mythology that surrounds our memories of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
