Exploring Theologies of Reproductive Justice

“In 2015, the UUA became one of the first faith groups to officially adopt the reproductive justice (RJ) framework. This deeply intersectional approach invites UUs to connect our rich–yet often siloed–traditions of working for economic justice, LGBT equality, racial justice, reproductive rights, sexual justice, and more. It also requires us to reflect critically on identities, power, accountability, and solidarity. This session will explore how we can learn and grow through theologies of reproductive justice. “

My Theology is not About Me

“I often write about modern Unitarian Universalism’s high theological anthropology. With this comes an often-problematic assumption that people are already basically good and as such, more in need of affirmation than of transformation in our congregational contexts. In this talk, I’d like to explore those challenges, such that even those of us who do not affirm an overly theistic vertical dimension in our theology can assert a robust call for transformation, atonement, reconciliation and restoration in our faith tradition. If indeed love is at the center, can we relate to sources of love and accountability quite beyond our own individual selves? “
