A Short
History of the Church - King James Version
|
The following history was published in 1998FIFTY YEARS PAST... By Margaret (Peggy) Fisher
Half a century has passed since the founding of the Unitarian Church of Arlington, Va. -- now the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington. We celebrate this milestone by publishing this 1998 church history. Two previous church histories are available in our church library. The first, written in 1968 by Ruth Tryon, describes the growth of the church from a small Virginia outpost of All Souls Unitarian Church of Washington, D.C., to a thriving congregation of 630 members. The 40th anniversary history, edited by Larry Booda, updates events in our church life to 1988. A review of those 40 years and of our fifth decade (to April 1988) reveals the caring, diversity, and dedication of our church leadership, past and present. Board members, committee chairs, ministers, and staff, working with a lively congregation, have built a dynamic and growing church. As members and friends, we have given many hours of volunteer time. Together we have made financial decisions and commitments. We have seen our dreams trans- formed to reality as we broke ground for new buildings and additions. We continue to demonstrate our caring within the church family and in our community outreach. We are enriched by our heritage and accept the responsibility to carry on the work so well begun. |
