Welcome! We invite you to join in Religious Education activities for both you and your children. We try to make participation as easy and enjoyable as possible, but everyone has questions, so just ask! During your first year, we hope you will take the time to get to know more about the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington and our Sunday morning religious education program for children. As a parent, you are asked to sign up to be a “snack parent” every 4 to 6 weeks. This means that you provide the class’s snack for the day (something like juice and cookies) and stay in the class to help the teachers as needed. This gives our teachers (who are parents just like you) some added assistance AND gives you the opportunity to see what’s happening in your child’s classroom. After your first year, we’ll ask you to be a teacher in your child’s or another class, or otherwise contribute your time. Our program is built on volunteer effort, and each year over 160 volunteers help to run the program. Luckily teaching, and otherwise working in the program is its own spiritual reward–many parents say that they didn’t really understand their own beliefs until they had to teach them. We look forward to getting to know you and your family. See you in RE! The RE Council |
