Description Core lessons for this curriculum are on the covenants; God's promise; God's protection; rivalry of brothers and sisters; envy and covetousness; love of luxury; oppression; faith in God; protection of religion against other religions; loyalty; integrity; and reconciliation. During the year, students present playlets of Old Testament scenes within their classroom, discuss biblical history, take field trips to nearby sites, and participate in social action projects. Classes also explore the influence of the Old Testament on other religions, Western civilization, and modern culture. |
| Content,Values, and Goals Living the Promise introduces the major stories and prophets of the Old Testament. Throughout the year, students discuss the role of the Old Testament in various contemporary religions and cultures, and of history in modern-day living. Hopefully, by the end of the year, students will also appreciate the common purposes and spiritual quests shared by many persons and cultures spanning over thousands of years. |
