Adult Education

{short description of image}

The Adult Education Program is designed to enhance our sense of community and to foster the enrichment of our spiritual and intellectual lives. We undertake to accomplish these goals by:

  • seeking greater understanding of our UU values and tradition;
  • increasing our knowledge of the communities and the world in which we live;
  • sharing insights and experience as to problems and issues which concern us;
  • striving continually to enrich and expand our intellectual horizons; and
  • cultivating our individual and collective senses of self-worth and self-esteem.

Participation is open to UUCA members and friends and to the public.

Education for adults takes the form of a smorgasbord of classes and activities, mostly during the week, sponsored by the Adult Education Committee. The Committee and the RE Coordinator publishes a Fall and Spring Adult Education Catalog as well as flyers advertising these and Summer classes. Topics include such areas as religion and philosophy, personal development, social issues, arts, and excursions. Some classes charge a fee, and classes are often limited in size, so registration for classes in advance is routinely required. Catalogs are mailed directly to your home if you receive our newsletter (The Arlingtarian).

The Adult Education Committee encourages opportunities for personal growth and education, spiritual learning and expression, parent education, and support groups for special groups with common needs. If you are interested in joining or leading a class or support group, please inquire.
